Well, mother nature isn’t my friend this week. I was hoping for some nice spring weather with the transition into March. Not so much. We were hit with some more snow this weekend but that didn’t stop me from making the inside of my house feel like the new season is just upon us.
I haven’t done a new tablescape in our dining room since Christmas so I was in major need of an update in here. Since it has been pretty plain the past couple of weeks, I really wanted to grab some fresh flowers and bring the space to life!
During a trip to our local Trader Joe’s (I’m obsessed with that place, anyone else?!) we brought home some of these gorgeous fresh tulips. They were $10.99 for two dozen. Not bad, right?! I love having fresh flowers around the house and these ones have been doing really well. TJ’s for the win!
I placed a large majority of them into this white pitcher that I got from my bridal shower a few years ago. I love the crisp white color and being able to use it as an actual pitcher or as home decor counts it as a must-have in my book. The other white tulips I simply plopped into jars that I had from the Target dollar spot. I always love having glass jars/vases like these handy for when spring and summertime rolls around.
I picked up this adorable little vintage stool at an antique store a few weeks ago and just knew I had to have it. I loved the short and chubby little legs and the natural wood that has been worn with time. Little pieces like these are awesome to have for centerpieces and general decorating because it allows for varying heights. I love having something a bit taller in the center of the table and then going down in height on each end.
I’ve recently started collecting old wooden cutting boards and used two of them to place on either side of the tulip pitcher. I liked how these wooden elements complimented each other and brought a little bit of a contrast between the table runner that the baskets. Oh and just like the wooden stool, they bring a little bit of height!
These two wire baskets were other antique finds that I purchased for uber-cheap. I decided to place the other vases into these baskets to add a bit of interest and width to the centerpiece.
I used the same cable-knit table runner that I used in my winter table scape (here) and will probably switch it out for a more spring-like one once I stumble into it. For now though, it’s giving my table a lot of texture and coziness that I’m still not ready to let go of (especially since there’s still snow outside)
After a few finishing touches with the saucer collection and linen napkins, my table centerpiece was complete. I’m really loving how much life that the tulips are bringing to our dining room and it’s getting me so antsy for warmer weather!
Thanks so much to all of you for stopping by the blog today. I am so thankful to have you here and following along on this journey!
