YOU GUYS. I have spent a year and a half looking at this porch swing sit in our garage. Do you know how patiently I’ve been waiting for this day?! I honestly can’t believe Eli never got sick of me asking, “Can we please hang that porch swing soon?”
We actually got this cutie as a wedding gift back in 2017 and honestly…it’s one of our favorite gifts we got that day. I look at it as something that we’ll use for years to come. It’s one of our favorite spots to be and I’m so excited for all of the memories we will have through the years swinging away.
The swing came with the chains so really all we had to do was mount it to our porch ceiling (in a stud of course) using an s-hook with an attached support bracket. We were able to hang it in a matter of 45 minutes and then our porch swing dreams were a reality.
With the nice weather we’ve been having here in PA, we’ve been spending lots and lots of time out here. We’ve even eaten dinner out here a few times! Oak really loves spending time outside with us, too.
I originally found this swing/cushion from Pier One but can’t seem to find this color in stock. I’ll keep my eyes open! The swing itself is a sealed wicker (in the color “parchment”) that is made to withstand weather. The cushion is mold/mildew/fade resistant so I actually leave it out when it rains. Obviously, we have a covered porch so it’s not getting totally soaked but we haven’t had any issues so far!
I, of course, wanted to cozy up the spot a bit so I added two tassel pillows and a lightweight blanket. (Linked all three at the bottom of the post!) I’m not kidding when I say, I’ve actually fallen asleep on the porch swing….multiple times. The extra cozy elements really were worth every penny.
I don’t think this spot would’ve looked complete without a little area rug underneath. I love this idea because we can kick our shoes of not worry about hot/cold concrete under our feet. This is the same rug we have at our front doorstep, just in a different size. I thought it would make our porch look more cohesive and the 5×7 fit perfectly!
I was so happy with the quality of the rug at our front door that I didn’t even hesitate buying the same one in a larger size. It is SO easy to wipe off and I’ve even tossed it into the wash a few times. I’ve never noticed any stains that couldn’t be easy wiped off. That’s saying something with a muddy puppy!
I hope to add lots of greenery/decor out here in the coming weeks but I started with a cute little fern from Home Depot. I placed it into this basket from the Opal House line at Target (see link below!) and I love the fun little element it brings to the space already!
I honestly can’t believe this is part of my house. Ahhhh! I am a lucky girl. I’m excited to continue decorating this porch of ours as the years go on but we’re off to a great start. After all, can you really have a farmhouse without a porch swing!? I think not. I totally get the hype now. Thanks for stopping by the blog today and seeing what we’ve been up to!

The classic porch swing is made of domestic woods like cedar and cypress, and tropical woods and their special qualities. Which wood you choose is going to be based upon exposure to the elements and use.
Thank you for sharing yours. I love this.
