I get asked a lot about the paint colors that we use in our home. While I always love switching things up with a coat of paint, we mainly used four colors on the walls in our home. Three of them are Sherwin Williams white paint colors and I wanted to share them with you since they’re tried and true favorites of mine!
Ivory Lace by Sherwin Williams –
We used this color in our foyer and entire second floor. Although I don’t show much of those spaces (yet) this color is a winner. Sherwin Williams Ivory Lace ( SW 7013 ) is a warm creamy-white that has slight yellow undertones. I used this in the larger spaces of our home to cozy up the space without making them feel small. Below, you can see photos of this color on our foyer walls and on the upper portion of my daughter’s bedroom walls.
Pure White by Sherwin Williams –
My go-to color for shiplap / walls that I want a true white is Sherwin Williams Pure White ( SW 7005 ). This one is exactly what the color states. No undertones or fuss, this color is about as crisp as white can get without feeling too stark or blinding. This is also a great color option for trim! Below, are photos of this color in our laundry room (on the shiplap) and in my daughter’s room (on the beadboard)
Pearly White by Sherwin Williams –
I might’ve saved the best for last. Sherwin Williams Pearly White ( SW 7009 ) is the color that we used in 75% of our home. I love this color because it gives depth without making the space feel too small. In our home the undertones, if anything, look slightly light-grey. I like to call this my chameleon color because it’s somehow warm and cool at the same time. Below, you can see the color in our living room, powder bathroom & master bathroom.
You really can’t go wrong with any of these options! Of course, I always suggest buying samples and testing them on different walls of the room you’re planning on painting. Every home is different because of lighting and the floor plan. I also recommend seeing how those test areas look at different times of day. A color could look totally different in the morning than it does at night! I hope this post was helpful if you’re looking for Sherwin Williams white paint colors for your home.

Hi! I’m painting my kitchen cabinets and was wondering if I could use Ivory Lace on the cabinets? What would pair well for the kitchen walls? We have a lot of wood trim and St. Cecilia granite countertops. Many thanks!
sarah jane says
Sure I think that would be pretty! It is a pretty neutral color so it pairs well with lots of colors 🙂

Hi Jenna, we have Pearly White on our Master Suite walls. I am thinking of using the Ivory Lace paint for our new custom sink vanity cabinets. The floors are a slate gray/charcoal porcelain tile and the trim is the honey oak that came with our house. Would love to know sara jane’s opinion on this, as well.
Dori says
Can you pls tell me what color trim paint you use with Pearly White? I am struggling finding one. Thank you

sarah jane says
I haven’t used SW Creamy before!

What color did you use in your nursery on the wall with your daughter’s name? Was it one of these three? It is absolutely beautiful but looks a tad peachier in undertones than these three.

Finally, Pearly White gets some recognition. I painted a south facing water front condo this color on the walls, ceiling , doors, and trim. it felt so disjointed before, now it’s just smooth peacefulness. the red kitchen cabinets are getting it now. Feels big. clean and coastal.
sarah jane says
It is a beautiful color! We love it in our home also

Hi! I’m thinking of using Pure White for our kitchen and living rooms to brighten the spaces. (We have lots of wood trim, built ins, and cherry wood cabinets). These areas also open to a foyer and hallway. Would you keep Pure White for these areas too? Or potentially Pearly White or Shoji White? Thanks!
sarah jane says
Pure White is a true white, if that’s what you’re going for. Not many undertones to note. I do not have experience using Shoji White but I do know Pearly White has a bit more depth than Pure White. It is more of an off-white. I hope this helps!

Thanks for the helpful article. I’m wondering what color you used on your ceiling?
sarah jane says
We just used pre-made ceiling paint by Sherwin Williams. Hope that helps!

Great blog! It was really helpful, especially for someone like me who wasn’t aware of color combinations and interior ideas. Following your guidance, I chose ‘Ivory Lace’ for my living area and ‘Caparol Milky White’ for my bedrooms – the results are truly awesome! Thanks for the insightful tips, making my home transformation a breeze. Looking forward to more inspiring content from your expertise!
sarah jane says
I’m glad the post was helpful in your decision!!

So glad I found this because I’m about to put pearly white in very large room. I used pure white in foyer but at times it looks yellow, I have Moscow Midnight as the large accent Tv Wall (beautiful) and Pearly White is recommended. Your article gives me confidence to move forward.
sarah jane says
You will love it!
Connie says
Does Pearly white ever look peach to you? I sampled it on my wall and it looked like a soft off white and the more I look at it I see peach. I hope once the house is painted it won’t look bad. I have eastern exposure in the morning and indirect light all day . Every neutral paint color I tried on that wall pulled yellow. I am thinking I may have made a costly mistake.
sarah jane says
I have not noticed peach in Pearly White but every space and home is different
